Girls' Night - Homemade Pizza

Every now and then there are a couple of friends (the Twins) that I get to have a girls' night in with.  This usually involves Phase Ten (30 phases, they exist, Google them), other random card games, movies in the background, and dinner, most often with dessert.

When Sarah sent me the text, I was all for it.  The only problem we were having was with what to have for supper.  For a few days we sat on it and thought about it.  It is really difficult sometimes to create a meal when so many people have different tastes.  Finally it was settled, homemade pizza.

So, Sarah and Meredith (the twins) bought the pizza dough and cheese while I bought pepperoni and Canadian bacon (essentially ham).

Now, this can be done one of two ways, completely and utterly from scratch which will take a while due to yeast rising, etc, etc. Or you can buy a box mix.  (Yes, the sentence fragment slightly bugs me; I have a love/hate relationship with them.

So, anyway:

Homemade Pizza

Ingredients: (if using a box mix)

1 box mix for 1 pizza
I think it was 3/4 cup of warm water (it activates the yeast)
A little bit of oil

Directions:

1. Dump the dough contents into a bowl.
2. Pour the warm water into the bowl.
3. Mix well with a fork until the dough forms a loose ball.
4. Cover ball with oil and cover with dish towel.
5. Let sit for 5 minutes.

6. Grease the cooking sheet/pizza sheet/whatever is being used to cook the pizzas on with some oil
7. Grease your hands with some oil.  Very important.  It makes handling the dough easier.  It also making smoothing out the dough easier.

I, however, did not grease my hands because I just wanted to dig into the dough to smooth it out.  Sarah, wisely, did.

Yes, that's my hands.

8. Roll dough into a ball and flatten on to the cooking sheet.  Maybe you want a circle, maybe you want a square or a rectangle.  Who knows, maybe you want to try to make a triangle.  Go right ahead.

 We made rounded rectangles.

This is the point where Sarah and I went to get eggs for the brownies (not included, it was a box and anybody can follow a box, yes, even you Chas.)

9. Spread the pizza sauce (apparently some box pizzas have the pepperoni in the pizza sauce) over the pizzas.
10.  Add cheese.
11. Add toppings.
12. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
13. Remove and enjoy!

What Mere did:

And that is how to make homemade pizzas from a mix.

Not that difficult.  And we were able to play Phase Ten while eating pizza.  (Mere won by the way)
Yes, one of the pizzas is Canadian Bacon and pepperoni and the other is only pepperoni.

And just because:

Don't those look wonderful.  The one I flattened out is on the left and Sarah flattened out the right.
